Weekly Roundup For Feb. 15-20 2016

Keeping to this schedule isn't as difficult as I thought it would be. Maybe it's because I've been taking the easy way out and publishing pre-recorded stories on Wednesday, but I'd rather do that than try and record with my sinus cavities full of god knows what. In any case, I'm over the cold, so unless something comes up (and it just might, depending) I'll be putting out a new narration this week, most likely Dagon by H. P. Lovecraft.

I'm also going to be working on pre-recording most of The Time Machine so that I can edit that throughout the week, upload the whole thing to Bandcamp, and then upload two chapters a week so that we can finish with the book faster. I'd like to get through more than two or three audiobooks a year, and that seems the best way to do it.

But all that aside, on with the weekly roundup!

First up is The Time Machine by H. G. Wells, Chapter 2, published on the 15th. You can't find this one on Bandcamp, I took it down because I want to upload the entire book as one album that you guys can pay for if you want and get it before it comes out on YouTube.

Next up is The Holder of Honor. This is another of those Holder stories I narrated about a year and a half ago for Seekers For A Cure, that charity that never panned out. In any case, I've got these to give me some breathing room if something happens to my voice, and that's exactly what I used it for this week.

And finally, of course, there's the weekly podcast. In this edition I take you through some of the moves that I've been making on this side of things, from the trouble with Bandcamp to the trouble with Soundcloud and beyond, and then go over a news article from a (very likely) disreputable source that was still pretty disturbing in its implications.

The JimFear Podcast Ep. 3 - News & News

Apparently my Soundcloud has decided that, since I've gone over the monthly upload time limit of 3 hours, it's hidden the first episode of the podcast. I'll get that fixed within the week.

But until then, thanks for your time and I hope you enjoy the content!

I'm Making An Executive Decision

What with the Bandcamp going live and you guys having the option to pay actual real digital monies for my narrations if you so choose, I am going to re-record all my older narrations before making them live on Bandcamp for pay. Those originals will still be up on YouTube for now, but I'll probably replace them with the new ones that will have decent-to-professional sound quality. It’ll take some time to re-record everything, but you guys deserve nothing but top-notch material from me and anything less than the best simply won’t do. So that’s what I’ll be doing with my days off and evenings for the foreseeable future, along with the audiobooks, regular narrations, and podcast.
I was just listening to the old ones on mp3 as I was making boilerplate images for them and converting some over to .wav files so I can upload them and the sound quality on my older stuff is really, really bad. It's just completely horrible. So I’m probably going to be replacing them on YouTube as well, now that I think of it. It’s a new start for my channel, and I want to start on as professional a foot as an addled alcoholic MGTOW with a penchant for calling people ‘cunts’ possibly can.
So look for those going live in the future along with regular content. I don't know if I'll be posting these re-recorded narrations on a schedule like I do with the rest, or if I'll just do those for Wednesday Narrations and alternate that with new stuff.

Weekly Roundup for Feb 8-13 2016

Time for my first weekly roundup! This is going to be a weekly post letting you guys know what videos I've posted this week, giving you easy, one-stop access to all the content from my YouTube channel(s) that you might have missed.

First up is Chapter 1 of The Time Machine by H. G. Wells, my first audiobook! You can also find this on my Bandcamp for just $1, but if you want to put some extra pocket change in the begging hat who am I to stop you?

Next up is my Wednesday narration/audio drama, The Holder of The Lens! This was made for a stillborn charity event I was partaking in, and since I was sick this week and I had these sitting around I figured I'd upload them instead of trying to voice act while I was all congested. This can also be found at YouTube and Bandcamp.

Finally there's the second episode of The Jimfear Podcast, wherein I talk about the new addition to the Space Wolves from Warhammer 40,000 and general problems and cool stuff about Games Workshop. Apparently the podcast is gonna be a YouTube and Soundcloud thing since the tracks are too large to upload to Bandcamp. So until I get iTunes going, along with any other podcast hoster I can convince to put this up, these will only be found on YT and SC.

Setting Things Up Properly

Okay, so apparently this whole thing is a lot more involved than I initially thought it would be.

On the bright side of things, I now have finally set up a Bandcamp and linked it to my paypal, so if you guys want to support my efforts to make some kind of minor supplementary income off of my voice work you can head on over there and toss some change in the tip jar while getting a shiny audio file of my narration that you can put in your preferred music player and listen to on the go without using up your data. I even managed to get it linked to the proper paypal account, so I reckon I'm not an irredeemable fuckup just yet.

My Bandcamp

I've looked into adsense, but it appears that I have to prove that my site is worth putting ads on before I can do that, so I guess I'll give it a few months of uploading regular content to youtube, bandcamp, and soundcloud and linking those here to drum up some traffic. I'll also be posting here more regularly, so there should be something to see here at least every two days or so and I'll try to update it as regularly as I can. I'll be posting all kinds of stuff here, pretty much whatever flits through my mind that I think is worth writing down. On top of that, I'll be linking every post through my tumblr and twitter accounts, since that's where most of my traffic probably comes from, especially the tumblr.

There might be a bit of a problem, seeing as how this blog and my youtube channel go through different emails, and I'll have to sign up for adsense through this blog, but I'm sure I can work it out. There has to be an option to add in another email account somewhere. I guess I'll work that out when this thing has more than 64 page views. I'm really starting from the bottom here, but at least I'm serious about it and am putting in work to make this function properly.

At least the damned bandcamp seems to work, but I'd need someone to actually purchase the single track on there at the moment to figure that out.

Anyways.

Weekly Roundup post coming soon. Probably tonight, seeing as how I completely forgot to to that yesterday. It's a lot to keep up with, honestly, but it's not impossible, so I guess the only thing to do is go go go until I can make this worth something.

Being totally honest, I am doing this out of love. I love narrating stories and making videos and creating audiobooks that people seem to enjoy so far. It's a fun past time and keeps me from going insane by giving me activities to focus my free time on. But I'd also like to get something other than views on youtube or reblogs on tumblr for it, yaknow?

So yeah. If you like what I do you can go over to the bandcamp. I'm currently in the process of downloading all of my old narrations (yes, even the old horrible ones when I had shitty equipment) and posting them to the bandcamp, all of which will eventually be available for $1 per track. Which is pretty fucking cheap, honestly, considering the amount of work I put into them. But I'm not gonna piss and moan about that. I'm just glad the damned thing is working.

Back Into Production!

Hello, and welcome to my new site. It's a bit generic at the moment, but I'll work on that. The important thing is that I'm back with a vengeance, and this is where I'll be putting everything to keep it consolidated and able to be found easily. Maybe one day I'll even be able to make some money off this kinda thing. Who knows, but for now let's be realistic and try to just get everything off the ground with a reasonable certainty that it won't crash and burn five seconds later.

First things first, this post will contain links to my inaugural podcast episode, currently featured on YouTube and Soundcloud. I'm still working on getting a proper domain name for Soundcloud, so it looks a bit iffy, but trust me when I say that it really is me and that's where you should go if you want to download the podcast and any future narrations I put up.

Except for the audiobooks. I'm thinking of putting those on bandcamp and trying to make a little money off them, but we'll have to see what happens. But most of the stuff going up on YouTube will also be available for free download on Soundcloud, so you won't have to fiddle with YT downloader sites or sketchy third-party software. In any case the audiobooks will be up on YouTube in a single playlist for each book, so you'll be able to find them there once I upload them.

But without further ado, here's the first episode of The JimFear Podcast!

The JimFear Podcast Ep. 1

And the Soundcloud link in case you want to download it and put it on your smartphone or neural computer link or whatever it is you kids have nowadays.

Alright, well that's about it. Seeing as I have this now, I'll probably work on getting some kind of feed to my tumblr and twitter so that whenever I post something here links will be posted there, and over the week I'll probably post more aimless ramblings that I don't feel like posting on tumblr so they'll get buried by sexy cosplays and cat videos.
So till Monday, peace out y'all!
